YUCKY FLOODS

I grew up in the midwest, so I am used to floods. Mind you, in all the years that I lived in Missouri we never experienced a flood caused by the elements. I believe that at one point under our house we had some water and had to get a subpump to help suck it out...but nothing was really ruined. Here are some photos from the flood of 1993 that happened in St. Louis.

So, when I moved out to Utah, I thought my days of flooding is over...it is a desert, right?? So Rob told me of the worst flood in Salt Lake's history happened in 1984, so I've attached some photos of that! Rob's dad had come up from California (where they were living at the time) and helped sandbag.

You all may be wondering what this has to do with anything at all. Well, today Rob, Amelia and I left home around noon to run errands and then to spend some time with family. It has been a pretty wet day. Well, around 5pm Rob ran home to get ready for Priesthood Session of General Conference and found our basement flooded. I rushed home, leaving Amelia with her Grams and Kelly and I spent a few hours sucking water out of window wells and then I decided to call and get someone else to suck water out of my basement. Kelly wore her cute polka dot rain boots and I wore some fake crocs (which by the way...I lost one of my shoes in the mud). Here is some photos of our adventures.

It's true...Kelly and I were making light of the situation. We couldn't stay too mad after losing a shoe and wading in water!

Oh Heather! What a bummer, I wish you would've called me to help, I would've been there in a flash!

Yuck!! My basement has flooded twice in less than a year. This weekend Chad had to buld an overhang roof so the water wont run down our staird anymore and flood. Good times. I got to wear my rubber boots for the first time as well. Hope everything is ok now.
