My First 5K

Today I ran the 5k portion of the Salt Lake Marathon! It was fantastic! I was so excited last night that I could hardly sleep! I woke up at 4:30 am and waited until 5:45 to leave! Rob, Amelia and I made the trek to downtown Salt Lake and it was fantastic! We met up with my dear friend Iva Fuller and her sister-in-law and right before the race my other great friend Lauren Muezenberg! Iva and I have been training together since January and Lauren was the person that got me started by giving me the link to the Couch to 5k training program! It was wonderful to be around those that are great!!! Here are a few photos from the race!!

As you can see Lauren is coming up on me...she ended up finishing a second before me! Dang! Next time!!
Iva ran the entire way too and finished right behind me!

Amelia had to be a part of the event and she was sporting Lauren's sunglasses after the race!
I ran the entire race and did it at my best time ever!! I ran it in 31:24 and it was invigorating! Thanks to all my friends for supporting me and encouraging me to accomplish this goal! What a great year to be 30!

Amelia Dancing

Here is the video of Amelia dancing! It wouldn't let me add the video on the last post, so here it is!!

Fun Videos of Amelia

Amelia has started doing the funnest things! She dances, sings and runs! I have been fortunate to be able to capture some of the fun on video! Here is some of the fun things she does!

She backs up against the wall and says "Ready GO" and runs! It is hilarious!

She also dances, it is so cute! I love it!

Easter 2009

So, on Easter, we hid candy for Amelia to find. She didn't get it and didn't really care until she saw the mini M&M's (those are one of her favorites)! She gathered up the candy and we showed her where to find her basket! She was so fun!

We got Amelia dressed and after church we headed to the cemetary to lay flowers at Landon's grave. It was a nice day to spend our Easter Sunday!

Easter Egg Hunt 2009

This year was quite fun for our family! Amelia was finally big enough to participate in the Easter tradition of hunting for eggs. Mind you, she did not get it nor did she really care, but fun none the less. On Saturday April 11, 2009 I took Amelia up to This Is The Place Heritage Park for an Easter Egg Hunt! It was a lot of fun! Here are some photos of that day!

After the hunt we hung out at the park waiting for our friend Bay to participate in the older kids Easter Egg Hunt. During that time Amelia found it great fun to walk around and playing in the field!

After the hunt, we went out to lunch and Amelia fell right to sleep on the way home! She was such a happy baby and had a great time!

On the way home, we got a call from Rob asking us to join him at the Real Salt Lake game. We went and had a great time!

It was a fun filled Saturday!

Landon's 3rd Birthday

Three years ago today my little boy was born and then quickly returned to live with our Heavenly Father. Over the last three years, I have coped quite well and tried to make it a happy day. This year is a bit different in the sense that I'm not sure how my coping will go. I'm still attempting to make it a happy day and hopefully it will go well! Perhaps the reason I'm not coping as well as I usually do is because of all my focus on Landon this year. I got involved with the March of Dimes to help raise money to go towards helping babies like Landon and Amelia and started a team in memory of Landon. When it first began I thought that this was another great way to cope and to bring rememberance. I still believe that it has done that for me and that I will be stronger for it. It is hard.

In the last six months three of my friends have lost their little ones. Perhaps this is another reason for my lack of coping. I've always just accepted the fact that this happened to me, and three years ago I didn't know anyone that had lost a child. The most recent little one that has returned to our Father in Heaven was this past Sunday which broke my heart and added that little bit more sorrow to my week.

Also, over the past three years I have never really asked the why me question, because of my acceptance. I don't plan on starting that here or probably ever. I know that each of us have experiences that we have to go through in order to help us become humble, teachable and more like Christ.

I try to invision what Landon would look like, what he would be doing at this point in development, what his sweet personality would be like. I can't imagine him to be anything like Amelia! Those are the things I think about and miss and long for the most. One day I will know the answers to these questions!

The other day I was thinking about how blessed I truly am to have such wonderful children. Landon, the perfect soul that he is and will always be; and Amelia the perfect little girl that gets to stay here with me and learn and grow and gain experience. It is amazing to me the insight and clarity one receives from the Spirit to get through any crazy event that occurs in our lives.

Although today marks the day we received and lost our son, know that I know that he is and always will be a part of our eternal family. That through the resurrection of the Savior he will be resurrected and because of the atonement, Landon will live with our Heavenly Father forever!

I appreciate all of our friends and family that support us and give us comfort during the darkest of our days. We are truly blessed to have such wonderful people in our lives!

Potty Training

So, I know that Amelia is so little and young to be potty training, but I wanted to start getting her started so when she is old enough to figure it out she will be ready! So, we bought her a potty chair that goes on the actual toilet (I have my limits of what I'm willing to do)! Anyway, we talked to Amelia (as much as you do with an 18 month old) and explained that you go to the bathroom on the potty. So, we put her on there and she loved it! She has yet to use the potty to go to the bathroom, but she does sit there for a few minutes! Amelia has also associated the potty and pooping. When she poops she says, "Mommy, poop poo." Then she gets a diaper and then heads to the bathroom to sit on the potty! She definately gets it...just not in the right order! One day!!! So here are a few photos of our girl on the potty! Enjoy!
P.S. Amelia has attached herself to my fuzzy socks...she loves it!!

Nursery!

Amelia is 18 months old now and today, March 1, 2009, my girl Amelia went to nursery for the first time! Rob and I dropped her off and she played great! We didn't have to go in there for her the entire time. Kim Wimmer is her nursery leader and had a little flower with her picture on it that Amelia took with her into nursery! We are so excited that Amelia is healthy enough to go...I wish I would have remembered my camera to take a photo of my girl in nursery. Hopefully I will remember next week!

Amelia the Walking Natural!

So, Amelia has finally started to walk more than crawl! She is getting so good at it! She is a natural! She has been extremely steady for the most part. She does have her moments where she gets tripped up on things...and as a result gets lots of bumps on her head. I haven't seen so many bumps and bruises in a long time! Needless to say, I'm attaching some video of our girl walking so that everyone can see her progression! Also...just a side note, Amelia got tooth number 8 this week! She is finally even, 4 on top and 4 on bottom! I love it!

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day was so fun! That morning I pulled out Amelia's present and she screamed "PUPPY"!! We got Amelia a new stuffed puppy and the "Space Buddy" movie. She loved it!!! I've attached some photos that we took of her. The day then progressed to Kelly and I making heart shaped banana chocolate chip pancakes and Kelly made some homemade syrup (it was so yummy), then we took heart shape cookie cutter and cut out the center of slices of bread to make eggs in a basket. It was so yummy! It was a nice day!! That afternoon we went to see the movie "Taken". Amelia was really well during the movie! So...here is the slideshow of our Valentine's Day!

Random January Shots

There is no rhyme or rhythm to the photos that were taken in January! Just random shots of Amelia and Rob! She loves playing with her drums and the Bumbo chair! The song that goes along with the slide show is a wonderful reminder of how quickly life goes and to enjoy the time that I am in now! So, enjoy the slide show and I'll be attaching some photos of Amelia learning to walk! It is so exciting! She is getting so big!! I love you all!
