Today was the last day of our trial and we accomplished much. Yesterday after the defendant finished his cross examination by his own attorney, the judge said to some affect, "I don't believe a word your client just said, and frankly, I am embarassed for him. I'm just embarrassed for him." I think all in the court room were completely surprised at this (not that we all didn't think the defendant was full of crap, but just the fact that the judge said something)! Today, the judge came in and ruled in our favor on the termination date of the contract. There is an issue of damages still left to be determined, but...you never know. This was my first trial and learned a lot to better prepare me for my next go at it. The court clerk and I got along really well, and she gave me some wonderful feedback (which I will use for the future cases). It has been a long and stressful week, but well worth the effort. Our client went home very happy and that is the most important thing!
